‘Une soirée au château’ consists of a selection of French chansons and Italian madrigals of the Renaissance, all a cappella. You will be able to hear how the Italian madrigal influenced the French chanson and how the expression of the text overcame the strict rules of polyphony. These songs show an array of emotions: melancholy, regret, admiration, joy, romantic love and jealousy!
Including works by Josquin Desprez, Clément Janequin, Pierre Certon, Pierre Passerau, Guillaume Costeley, Jacques Arcadelt, Claude Lejeune, Luca Marenzio, Philippe Verdelot and Roland de Lassus.
Musicians:
Helen Cassano, conductor/mezzo-soprano
Veerle Van Roosbroeck, soprano
Anna Nuytten, mezzo-soprano
Jonathan De Ceuster, countertenor
Ivan Yohan, tenor
José Pizarro, tenor
Paúl Sojo, baritone
Andrés Soler Castaño, bass
